FAQ’s

  • At Sailtauk we understand that no one wishes to go sailing in bad weather. The captain of the vessel determines if a charter is to be cancelled due to the weather conditions. Examples of inclement weather include thunderstorms, excessive winds and rainstorms.

We offer non-refundable 24-Hour Charter Cancellation Insurance.  For an additional 10% at the time of booking, you may cancel your charter 24 hours prior to your scheduled start time for a full refund.  This insurance allows you a one time 24 hour rebooking.

Most of our guests have had a wonderful time even if conditions are not perfect.

We track and monitor weather conditions hourly and we will make every effort to contact you two hours prior to your charter if inclement weather will affect your charter. Sometimes, inclement conditions can come on suddenly and result in last-minute cancellations.

Please plan on arriving on time for your scheduled sail even if the forecast calls for rain.  Please note that weather forecasts are incorrect 99% of the time.  We ask your patience with weather forecasts as they are often very inaccurate. Charters will not be rescheduled due to weather forecasts of any kind.

  • WHAT TO WEAR

Bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen (no spray sunscreen). Sailors should dress for safety, comfort, and weather. It can be cooler at sea than on land.

For safety and comfort, bare feet are the preferred footwear aboard the Barbara Bell. Soft-soled shoes like boat shoes or sneakers are also acceptable. You will be asked to go barefoot for safety reasons if you wear hard-soled shoes or high heels on board.

    WHAT TO PACK
You’re also welcome to bring aboard your own food and drinks. We recommend keeping food to snacks and easy-to-eat items like sandwiches.  Plan as if you are going on a picnic.

  • Prior to your sail, the Captain will greet you on the dock, introducing themselves and our sailing vessel, the Barbara Bell. All passengers will participate in a brief safety briefing, sign release forms, and, if desired or required, don life jackets.

Life jackets are required and will be provided for passengers twelve and under. We carry and will provide a life jacket to any passenger wishing to wear one.

  • Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled sail time.

If you are running late for your private sail, we will wait for you before departing. Please note that we will conclude your sail at the scheduled finishing time so that we may stay on schedule.

If you are running late, please call or text us at 631-353-1614 to notify us as soon as possible.

  • Cancellations made 7 or more days prior to the scheduled charter receive a 100% refund. Cancellations less than 7 days prior or no-shows receive no refund. All changes or cancellations must be confirmed by the captain. Weather-related cancellations (determined by the captain) allow a full refund or reschedule at no extra cost.

Bookings require payment upon reservation (via FareHarbor); full amount is charged to secure your date. Questions or special requests? Contact us!

Sailtauk reserves the right to cancel a trip due to severe weather. Every attempt will be made to reschedule weather-canceled outings. Trips which Sailtauk cancels due to weather which cannot be rescheduled will be refunded 100%.
